Yeah, interesting... I don't really see how this responds to the passages I cited from the Qur'an. In direct words slavery is allowed and encouraged both in the Qur'an and in the Hadiths. Muslim men are told to take women of conquered people as booty to be used as sex slaves. Men approached Mohammed and asked him on multiple occassions whether they should be practicing coitus interuptus with these women - Mohammed told them he thought they should fully commit to the sex act and not interupt it.

There is no argument - clearly your scriptures have been picked to present a specific vision of Islam as a just system - it doesn't take much to find corruption with in the Qur'an. Either take all of it, or none of it. You should not ignore passages and put other, more pleasing ones in their place.

Mohammed was a great leader of men, a great thinker and a violent warlord who enjoyed the profit of being the leader of the new religion he initiated (whether though demonic assistance or not - who was the "angel" in the cave?). Clearly Mohammed was talented, but his talents did not go toward advancing good or doing God's work. If you can read, then the Qur'an will tell you what really happened. "You will know a tree by its fruit;" what did Mohammed produce? Hatred, violence, slavery, genocide, - he did these things in his own lifetime - they were his first projects as the leader of Islam. He did it all in the name of Allah. If you can read and weigh all that Mohammed did in your mind, its clear that he was not a man of a good god - he may have believed he was serving God, but this is not the case.

The Qur'an has many statements that make it seem like a good book, but you have to take it all, all of it. We cannot just believe it because we believe it. If it encourages evil behavior, then call it what it is. Its a hypocritical text that says one thing and then another, promoting good among Muslims and evil in order to keep peace.

Islam hasn't tackled the problem of slavery.

Why do women wear the Hijab? The Hijab is a solution to the lust of men and to the sanctity of marriage. What is the real problem? The woman, or the lust of men? The problem is lust. So, what should men of God do? Men of God should deal with the issue of lust. Godly women should dress conservatively, so as not to draw men into lust, but the hijab does not allow room for men to deal with the issue of lust. The hijab treats the woman like she is the problem when clearly it is the sin in the man which should be confronted and handled.

Islam handles problems this way - it sidesteps the real problem. The real problem gets ignored and quietly continues on under the surface. This is because Islam is a fear based system. If you cross certain lines, violence, punishment or death are the consequences. That is what the Qur'an says and that is historically how Islam became a religion. Islam spread through oppression, giving power to believers who took power from others. Islam is all about power, control and fear.

Slavery - Islam makes a slave of the muslim. A Muslim bows to a proud, selfish, arrogant and angry god - the slave master. A Muslim models this god's behavior. The slavery continues in the home - the wife in her hijab, kids, fear, power and control. Pressure to continue on in what the family believes. In Christian families, it is understood that families may be disappointed if a family member decides to follow another path. Some 'Christians' may disown family members who choose to reject Christ (not that this is at all encouraged by the Bible). In Islam, if a muslim converts to another religion or rejects Islam, families are considered right in threatening the former muslim with death. A father may kill his daughter or son for having made the decision they've made, or he may have someone else kill the child. This is not seen as inappropriate in Islam. This fear of death looms over the minds of Muslims, making it unlikely for them to really consider converting. They fear death by their own family. Along with the love of their family comes the promise of accountability: "If you step outside the lines of what we believe in, we will kill you." I remember growing up in a Christian household wondering if my parents would kick me out if I did not become a Christian - THey wouldn't, but I didn't talk with them about it - being kicked out was the worst case scenario - Muslim families instill a worse fear from a child's early years - death. I can't imagine growing up with the idea that my parents might attempt to take my life if I stepped out of line... that is how slaves are treated. THe Qur'an promotes slavery, the rape and abuse of slave girls and the use of fear in each Muslim family that make each Muslim a slave.
